Crowdfinancing is a special form of crowdfunding. It is the financing of a company or another project by a number of investors who are usually recruited via an online platform. The word “Crowdfinancing” originates from the English, combining the words “crowd” (= Schwarm) and “financing” (= Finanzierung). In German one may therefore also speak of Schwarmfinanzierung (swarm financing).
